Universal Analytics will stop processing data from July 1st, 2023. Customers are encourage to upgrade to Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is a web-based analytics service offered by Google that allows website and app owners to track and analyse various aspects of their online presence, such as user behaviour, traffic sources, conversion rates, and more.

How do I integrate Google Analytics with Whispir?

Google Analytics is an external analytic services that can be embedded to any website or applications. It is popularly used with Whispir’s Rich Messages by utilising a supplied tag from Google and adding it to individual Rich Message components.

Please note: When making code edits to components, it's important to proceed with caution. We strongly recommend that you exercise care and proceed at your own risk.

I am currently using Google Analytics with Whispir. What is the impact of this upgrade?

Because there are differences between the Universal Analytics and Google Analytics 4 data models, your Google Analytics 4 data will look different from your Universal Analytics data. This is true regardless of whether or not you use connected site tags to implement your Google Analytics 4 property.

Whispir strongly recommends you test your rich message after the upgrade to ensure data is feeding through the way you expect.

Do I have to do anything in Whispir after this upgrade?

Whispir strongly recommends you test your rich message after the upgrade. If it is not behaving like you expect, below are some recommended troubleshooting steps:

  • Ensure you are utilising the latest template version

  • Ensure your Universal Tag (previous to Google Analytics 4) matches what is now known as Google’s ‘MEASUREMENT ID’ this will generally start with a G-##########

How do I upgrade my Analytics?

Whispir recommends utilising the ‘GA4 Setup Assistant wizard’ that pops up when you log into your Google Analytics account as an Admin or Editor for a seamless transition. Other useful resources to help your transition can be found under ‘Useful links’.
